17 Tips For Christian Blogs And Bloggers

Posted by The Critic on February 7, 2007

The Lords Blood Saved The Critic Soul 'sTo use Christian blogs for outreach, one must understand how they work best and the ways they differ from conventional websites. Spend lots of time reading different secular blogs: find them in directories such as BlogCatalog and Technorati or in the Weblog Awards.

Although there are thousands of Christian blogs, almost all of them are written for Christians, in Christian language and addressing Christian concerns. While non-Christians may accidentally find them, in most cases they are unlikely to stay to read, unless they happen to be seekers of the truth. A local community-based blog can and should include links and postings to appropriate local church activities. Read the rest of this entry »

Catherine Morgan’s Blogs Stay On Top In Tags. Anyone Else Upset?

Posted by The Critic on February 4, 2007

Does this picture look familiar to you? Catherine Mogan Avatar

What’s up with this wordpress? I want to know why Catherine Morgan’s Blogs are stuck on the front page in wordpress tags regardless of how long ago they have been posted?

I don’t want to sound like a whiner here but wordpress you need to fix this and bring it to an end. I watch others post go down the line in minutes, but not for Catherine Morgan and all of her blogs. Her topics can be days and even weeks old yet they stay on the front page in tag searches.

This is not necessarily a stab at you Catherine see this example here of another. You may not know why its happening. But um, well, um, its working with all your different blogs so maybe you are doing something you shouldn’t be. Only you know!

To those reading, I think its time this comes to a halt. What are your opinions?

10 Tips for Attracting More Comments From Your Readers

Posted by The Critic on February 4, 2007

A friend Chris Garret has supplied some great information that I felt would be of interest to you. Here’s 10 tips for attracting more comments to your blog.

Your blog can be thought of in many ways. As a pulpit, a soapbox, a magazine, a platform, a newsletter, a diary. A lot of bloggers focus on the “broadcast” aspects, getting their message out. While great content is essential, never neglect the community element of your blog.

First of all, as we have said time and time again, you must answer comments that are made on your posts. It is not only the polite thing to do, it also encourages more comments. If people see they are treated with respect and they will get answers they will comment more. It still surprises me the amount of bloggers who post then sit back and ignore the feedback they receive.

I’m hoping you will be able to add to my tips or correct me if I have something a bit off. It will be pretty ironic if my post about attracting comments goes without being commented on!

On with the tips. Read the rest of this entry »

I Want Your Link On My Blog

Posted by The Critic on February 4, 2007

Helping Bloggers SucceedIf you run a blog that is generally about helping other bloggers via tips, advice, or any other form then I would like to know about it. If I find information that is useful then I am going to add your blog to my links (blogroll) page located at the top under “Related Links

I would also like to use help links to your blogs. When I write articles its my job to provide users information that will help them. If there’s something on your blog that I think would be beneficial to them then I want to be able to send them to your blog via a text link and that’s exactly what I will do.

If this is you then reply to this topic with some good information about your blog (not spam) and I will take a look. If its found to be useful in regards to the above it will be added to my links page.

Note: Add me, check out my blog, and so forth will be treated as spam and deleted without a 2nd thought, ha ha.

If I add your blog, consider doing the same for me. :)

The Blog Critic Hits Indiarose’s Blog Hard- Like The Bears On the Saints

Posted by The Critic on February 2, 2007

When the New Orleans Saints went marching into Chicago to meet the Bears they looked great at first glance, but as time went on they were exposed and soon found out they still need to improve greatly if they want to be Super Bowl contenders in the future.

When the Blog Critic visited your blog “my indiarose” for the first time I simply took a quick glance at it and thought to myself “this is going to be a quick easy review. Everything looked ok until it came time to start prodding and probing around. I quickly found out how wrong I was in my initial thought just like some were concerning the Saints going into Chicago.

I have critiqued your blog based on findings from many areas within. You will receive a grade in each area along with an overall grade at the end using my scoring system (0 to 100) found at the end of this topic. Read the rest of this entry »

Like A Nude American Idol On YouTube – The Blog Critic Needs Help

Posted by The Critic on February 1, 2007

To Much Work BloggingFirst of all lets get this straight! I’m not nude at the moment, nor am I an American Idol on YouTube. I am however an American blog critic in need of some help.

Since starting this blog “The Blog Critic” I have been overwhelmed with traffic and can see that here very shortly I am not going to be able to handle the task of doing all the critiquing by myself. Now I don’t really care if your setting there at your computer in the nude, or if your an American Idol on YouTube.

What I do care about is finding other authors that know for a 100% fact that they would like to critique from time to time with me here on this blog. If your thinking yes this is me then read on. Read the rest of this entry »

Meet The New Blog Critic – An Open Invitation To Everyone

Posted by The Critic on January 30, 2007

Here is your opportunity to be one of the first blogs we critique in our grand opening.

Reasons To Have Your Blog Or Certain Post Within Critiqued.

Right now you may be asking yourself “why on earth would I want anyone to critique my blog?”.

There are literally hundreds of advantages to having any blog critiqued. First and foremost is the trackback and link potential it generates for you because others will look at what the critic says about your blog or post and then they will visit your blog from the provided link for comparison. Will they agree with the critic and provide their opinion(s) or deny the critics view?

The primary purpose of having your blog critiqued is to gain more exposure for you as mentioned above. However there are also many more reasons so I will create a short list of the most important for you to take a look at below.

A bloggers main objective should be to have a nice layout and to provide useful information that others will enjoy. The Blog Critic will take a look at any blog or post desired and will give feedback on what I find good or bad and I will critique it to try and help you increase your blogging potential and hits.

1. You think your layout is great but what do others think?

2. I did not know my grammar was this bad.

3. Positive feedback from the critic is a wonderful thing.

4. What does my blog look like in other browsers?

5. I meant to say this but others are taking it another way.

6. The critic will let you know why your not getting replies to a particular topic.

7. Your post will be read, tested and reviewed in detail and then added to this blog generating even more links to yours.

8. If you are the only one that critiques your work then the odds of your blog being successful is slim.

9. When the critic visits your blog and decides to write a review on it you can reply and ask questions about the critics opinion. (more links back to you) You can even criticize the critic if you feel the need, I don’t mind.

10. Hits, hits and more hits will flow as the critic puts you into the spotlight in a new and most intriguing way.

Now that you see the potential for more hits, more conversation, better results and great practices for you and your blog its time to let the critic go to work. If you would like to have your blog or a certain topic within your blog reviewed then post a reply to this topic only and by following the specific directions listed below.

Note: If you want an overall review of your blogs homepage then leave the exact link to the blogs homepage only. If you want a certain post reviewed then leave the title of the post along with the exact URL pointing to it.

Important Notice: Do not add more than one link for us to review in your reply. If you do so it will be automatically deleted by the wordpress software and we will not see it as it will be recognized as spam.

The Blog Ciritic reserves the right to review any blog without the consent of the author. The Critic also reserves the right to choose which blogs or post I will review and to turn down any request I choose.

Get ready all because the critic will turn loose on the blogging community shortly and you never know which blog I will hit.

This blog will be updated daily.
